ABOVE THE PUDDLES
Above the Puddles is a project about the impact of technological media development on human miniature intercourse and a possible future of it,based on the research with 12 young couples based in Shanghai, Beijing, and London, all of whom report experiencing cognitive dissonance within their intimate relationships. The project explores their negotiations around power, surveillance, and emotional agency, as well as the challenges of navigating mechanisms of control and balance in intimacy while living in the hyper-regulated, fast-paced environments of global cities. The project involves experimental short films, audio visualizations, and remote interactive installations, and is made of two main platforms, a website and an offline installation which have a subtle connection of control, monitoring and mutual influence.
